The dash is a Hyundai, Kia, Chevy, Nissan, or BMW, and the pack is at zero on a Tacoma hill or a port lot. Tesla roadside is the wrong first tap for that car. Charge Pro SEA connects you with a licensed local operator who can run a CCS or NACS feed on site, quote the work, and bill you directly.
Why Tesla dispatch is the wrong first tap
Tacoma has 6,651 registered electric vehicles, per Washington DOL EV population data read in September 2026. Pierce County has 25,042. Tesla is about 41 percent of the 299,705 EVs statewide, and about 44 percent of King County’s fleet. The rest of the Pierce mix is Chevrolet, Nissan, BMW, Kia, Hyundai, and the trucks that work the port.
A Model Y driver can open Tesla roadside and stay in the right program. An Ioniq 5, EV6, Bolt, Leaf, or Lightning driver tapping the same line is in the wrong queue.
A conventional club dispatch often means a flatbed. A wrecker can clear a stall. Miles come from a charge. Washington’s Chapter 46.55 RCW governs towing and impound. RCW 46.61.590 requires the driver to arrange prompt removal.
What you want is a non-Tesla EV rescue match. Charge Pro SEA makes that match. The brand owns no fleet and holds no trade license. The operator is licensed and insured, quotes the job, and bills you.
For 12V no-starts and general coverage, read EV roadside assistance in Tacoma. This page stays on the empty-pack, wrong-app problem. Eastside campus lots are non-Tesla EV rescue in Redmond. Downtown Bellevue is non-Tesla EV rescue in Bellevue.
Port lots, Stadium District, and I-5
Tacoma winters sit in the cool, wet 35 to 45F band. Hills climb off the tide flats toward the North End. A car with miles at the port doesn’t always have them uphill. SR-16 toward the Tacoma Narrows Bridge adds stop-and-go load. I-5 through town does the same in the wet.
Downtown, Stadium District, North End, Proctor, Hilltop, South Tacoma, Old Town, Point Defiance, Eastside, and Lincoln are the named areas. The Port of Tacoma and Tacoma Dome station generate long-dwell parking. Census ACS data puts 64.8% of Tacoma housing before 1980.
Give the operator the garage name and level, or say Port of Tacoma, Dome station, I-5, or SR-16. A Hyundai on a tight downtown ramp is a different job from a van on a port curb.
If you are on I-5, stay out of the travel lanes, keep hazards on, and dial 911. WSDOT’s Incident Response Team covers incidents on state highways. Published IRT pages mention gas. They do not mention electric vehicles or mobile charging.
An empty pack on the Narrows crossing is out of charge on the Tacoma Narrows. Stay on this page if you are in the city, not on the span.
Tacoma Power serves the city of Tacoma. The residential Level 2 charger rebate is a $400 bill credit, up to $600 total per installation. That is a home program, not a truck in a Hilltop garage.
Cold cuts the last bar. Recurrent Auto, looking across 30-plus EV models, found EVs keep about 78 percent of range at 32F. AAA testing at 20F found temperature alone cut range 10-12 percent, and cabin heat pushed the loss toward 40 percent.
CCS, NACS, and what to tell the operator
Level 2 AC charging runs 240V residential (208V commercial) in a published 2.9-19.2 kW band. Connectors are SAE J1772, plus J3400 (NACS) for Tesla vehicles. A J1772 or CCS adapter is the ordinary way a non-Tesla EV takes AC Level 2 from a NACS source.
The published rescue equipment is a Tesla Cybertruck with an integrated 240V / 9.6 kW bed outlet, a NACS plug, and a CCS adapter. A 15 to 30 minute connection adds roughly 10 to 20 miles. That is the size of a charge, not an arrival time.
Tell the operator the make, the model year, and the inlet you can see. 2025 and later IONIQ 5 cars have a native NACS port. Earlier Ioniq 5 packs are 58.0 kWh or 77.4 kWh for 2022-2024.
If the car is dark and the pack still shows range, that is a 12V. A matched operator can jump it, load-test it, and quote a replacement. Mercedes EQS owners should know Mercedes tells drivers to have starting assistance only at a qualified specialist workshop. Say the make up front.
Call (206) 202-7018. Charge Pro SEA matches you with a local operator. The operator quotes before starting and bills you directly.
