The pack hits zero on Bothell Way NE, still short of Kenmore and already past the Shoreline line. Hazards go on under wet evergreens. That curb is Lake Forest Park, and a gas can will not move the car.
Charge Pro SEA is a referral service for the Puget Sound region. We connect you with a licensed, independent local EV rescue operator. The operator quotes the work, does it, and bills you directly.
Bothell Way, SR-522, and Town Center stalls
Lake Forest Park is a thin King County city on the north shore of Lake Washington. The commercial spine is Bothell Way NE, which carries SR-522. Town Center sits on that strip. Lyon Creek drains toward the lake. Burke-Gilman trail lots sit off the same corridor. Washington DOL currently-registered EV data, from the statewide file updated 2026-09-15, lists 1,029 EVs in Lake Forest Park. Census ACS 2019-2023 puts the city at 13,356 people.
This is a surface highway, not a wide freeway shoulder. Driveways, signals, and wet canopy pinch the pavement. If you stop in a travel lane, you are in traffic. Dial 911 first when anyone is hurt, the car is blocking a lane, there is a fire, or you feel unsafe. WSDOT’s Incident Response Team responds to incidents on state highways, from flat tires and running out of gas to major collisions. Teams are on call around the clock and patrol major corridors during peak hours, covering roughly 1,300 centerline miles. Their published materials do not mention electric vehicles, an empty pack, or a mobile charge. Treat IRT as a safety response on SR-522. Do not wait on them for an EV fill.
City lots and trail lots are a separate problem. We could not confirm a published rule for how long a disabled EV may sit at Town Center or at a Burke-Gilman trail lot. Follow the posted signs. If an attendant asks you to move, arrange that with the operator you hire. RCW 46.61.590 requires the driver to arrange prompt removal of a disabled vehicle. A stall is not overnight storage.
If you can roll safely into a Town Center stall, a Burke-Gilman lot, or a side street off Bothell Way, do that before you call. Name the lot and the nearest business. “On 522” is not a pin. “Town Center, south lot, facing Bothell Way” is. Rescue trucks need a curb they can occupy without sitting in a live lane.
A public charger only helps if it works, it is open, and you can reach it on the range you have left. If the stall is taken or the session will not start, you are still stranded. That is when emergency EV roadside assistance is the call, not another lap around Town Center.
Connector names are simple from the curb. Level 2 AC uses SAE J1772, plus J3400 (NACS) for Tesla vehicles. A J1772 or CCS adapter is the ordinary way a non-Tesla EV takes AC Level 2 from a NACS source. The operator brings the matching end. You do not need to quote a kW figure while you wait.
Empty pack vs a dead 12V after the Shoreline run
Two failures look the same from the sidewalk. The screens are dark. The car will not go into drive. One is an empty traction pack. The other is a dead 12V.
The Shoreline run is the short hop south on the same strip. Cabin heat, wipers, and wet pavement pull range on that grade toward Town Center. Recurrent Auto’s winter testing across 30-plus EV models found that EVs keep about 78% of range at 32°F, roughly a 22% loss. AAA testing at 20°F found temperature alone cut range 10-12%, and cabin climate control pushed the loss toward 40%. A low-SOC trip out of Shoreline can put you in Lake Forest Park with nothing left for the next signal.
An empty pack still has a 12V that is awake. You can usually open doors, use the screen, and see a 0% or turtle warning. The fix is a mobile Level 2 charge at the curb. Matched operators use a Tesla Cybertruck with an integrated 240V / 9.6 kW bed outlet, a NACS plug, and a CCS adapter. That is the same power level as a typical home wall connector, inside the U.S. DOE Level 2 band of 2.9-19.2 kW. A 15 to 30 minute connection adds roughly 10 to 20 miles of range. Roughly 30 miles of range per hour is the derived rate at 9.6 kW against typical EV efficiency. Those numbers describe the size of a charge. They are not an arrival time.
A dead 12V is a different job. The high-voltage pack may still have range. The car will not wake, the parking brake may not release, and the charge port may stay locked. A matched operator jumps the 12V on site, load-tests it, and can replace a failed 12V (AGM lead-acid or lithium, per model year). The operator prices both options before starting and bills you directly. Tesla’s own manuals say a Tesla cannot be used to jump start another vehicle. Do not ask a neighboring Model Y to clamp onto yours.
If you cannot tell which failure you have, say so on the call. Describe the last warning, whether the screens light, and whether the charge port opens. The operator decides on site. A car that dies again after a jump is a replacement job, not another boost from a portable pack.
King County holds 144,257 registered EVs in the same DOL file. Tesla accounts for about 44% of that county total. Chevrolet, Nissan, BMW, Kia, and Hyundai follow. The 12V chemistry and the charge inlet change by make and year. Have the model year ready so the operator brings the right jump gear and the right plug.
Mobile charge vs a tow toward Kenmore
Kenmore is the next city northeast on SR-522. A tow toward a charger or a shop there is one path. A mobile charge at your current curb is the other. Charge Pro SEA does not pick for you and does not set the price. The operator you hire quotes both options before work starts.
A mobile charge is the usual first move when the car is already in a legal stall and the traction pack is empty. You stay put. The operator connects Level 2 AC. You get enough range to reach a charger you trust, then you drive off. That is out-of-charge EV recovery, not a wrecker. It will not replace a failed 12V, free a charge port that will not release, or shift a car that will not go into gear.
A tow makes sense when the car cannot take a charge, cannot be moved into a safe stall, or needs a shop. Chapter 46.55 RCW governs towing and impound in Washington, including private-property impounds, notice rules, and the maximum impound rates the Washington State Patrol posts. Confirm the destination and the rate with the tow operator before the hook. We do not publish tow prices. A short roll toward Kenmore only helps if that shop or charger is actually open and can take your connector.
Ask your motor club what they will authorize for an empty EV pack before you decline a local operator. Many clubs still send a gas-and-jump truck. The local operator still quotes you. You pay that operator unless your club has already agreed to pay them.
If SR-522 traffic is stacked and you are on the painted shoulder, stay in the vehicle with hazards on unless a barrier is safer. Do not stand between the car and live lanes. We could not confirm a posted shoulder rule unique to Lake Forest Park. Follow WSP direction on SR-522 and the signs in front of you.
A lot of the city’s housing is older. ACS 2019-2023 puts 72.8% of Lake Forest Park housing as built before 1980. Many of those garages were never built around a wall connector. Overnight 120V up the hill does not help you on Bothell Way at 2%. The roadside job is still a mobile charge or a 12V repair at the curb you are on.
How to request a local operator from the curb
Call with a pin, not a neighborhood nickname. Charge Pro SEA matches you with a licensed, independent local operator. Have this ready:
- City: Lake Forest Park
- Exact spot: Bothell Way NE and the cross street, Town Center lot and which side, Burke-Gilman lot name, or a Lyon Creek landmark
- Direction of travel if you are on SR-522
- Year, make, model, color, and inlet (NACS or J1772)
- What the car is doing: 0% pack, dark 12V, charge port stuck, or you are not sure
- Whether you are in a lane, on a shoulder, in a stall, or behind a gate
- Passengers and any immediate hazard
- Whether you want a mobile charge, a 12V jump or replacement, or a tow quote
The operator confirms the price with you before starting. We do not quote a brand fee, a waiver, or a free inspection. There is no published arrival window. Availability depends on the operator who takes the job.
Stay reachable. If you roll from the SR-522 shoulder into a Town Center stall, send the new pin. If a public charger starts working while you wait, say so, so the operator is not rolling to a car that is already plugged in.
For a highway-lane hazard, 911 is still first. WSDOT IRT is a safety response on the corridors they patrol. It is not a substitute for a Level 2 rescue charge. Statewide EV counts and city-level registrations live on Washington DOL’s open data portal. Connector and Level 2 background from the U.S. Department of Energy is the same band this page uses: 240V residential (208V commercial) Level 2 AC, SAE J1772 and J3400. The 9.6 kW rescue figures above are derived from the operator equipment on this site, not a DOE guarantee.
When to call us
Call when the car is stuck in Lake Forest Park with an empty pack or a dead 12V, and a public stall will not finish the job. Call from Bothell Way, SR-522, Town Center, or a Burke-Gilman lot if you need a licensed local operator to quote a mobile charge or a 12V repair on site. Call us at (206) 202-7018 and we’ll connect you with a local EV rescue operator.
